CAREER PATHS
What are they?

Career Paths give you a structured plan to follow, designed to help you develop yourself within your role and achieve your career aspirations.  Whether you’re new to your role, looking for the next step, or want to be an expert in your current role, Career Paths can help you tailor make a career you love!  

How do they work?

Every Career Path has three different levels to work through – Entry, Established and Expert. Each level explains what you need to demonstrate in your role and how you should do things, to be successfully perform at that level.  

FAST TRACKS
What are they?

At Matalan, we know how important it is to support our internal talent to grow and develop by providing opportunities to progress. Our Fast Track programme is a structured development opportunity where a colleague steps into a vacant role for six months working on agreed objectives with the aim of securing the permanent role upon successfully completing the programme.

How do they work?

Our Fast Track programme is for those colleagues who are on their way towards a promotion and apply for a vacant role. To prepare for success in the role, they work closely with their line manager and a mentor over the six-month period giving ongoing support and development to bridge any skills gaps and to make sure they're set up for success.

TAILOR MADE LEADERSHIP

Our Tailor Made Leadership programme provides leadership development options to build the skills of our leaders across the business, regardless of their role or business area. The programme lets leaders choose the development opportunities most relevant to them and their role, to tailor make their development here at Matalan. Our goal is to empower our leaders to blaze a trail by living our leadership values; Creating Clarity, Enabling Agility, Encouraging Inclusion, and Driving Change. Whatever your aspirations are, you will find the support and development opportunities at Matalan to truly tailor make a career you love.

It’s important to feel recognised and valued for the great work you do. Our Reward, Benefits & Recognition schemes are designed to recognise the great work that our colleagues deliver.

Colleague discount: You get a 20% discount as standard when you join the team here at Matalan. This increases with length of service and can build up to a huge 50% discount!
Thrive recognition scheme: We recognise and reward colleagues through monthly, quarterly and annual schemes. These provide a range of financial rewards to high performing colleagues. The awards range from £15 up to £1,000! These are all under the banner of our Thrive recognition framework, which includes length of service awards as well.
Holiday: We offer generous holiday entitlements to all our colleagues to help them lead a balanced lifestyle. The entitlements increase with the length of service and can go up to a maximum of 30 days.
Pension: Our pension scheme, provided by Legal and General, is open to all colleagues and is designed to help you save for retirement.

Wellbeing support provided by the Retail Trust: Our partnership with the Retail Trust helps to support the wellbeing of our colleagues, through our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP). The Retail Trust is a charity that has been caring for and protecting the lives of people working in retail since 1832. Colleagues get support around mental health and wellbeing, emotional support, physical wellbeing, career development and financial health and grants.
Retail rewards: Through the Retail Trust we also support financial wellbeing with a wide range of expert guidance and tools.
